Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) has partnered with Burnley Football Club to educate young people on the potential risks involved with gambling. The Premier League club will help the safer gambling charity deliver a national education program which aims to raise awareness and safeguard young people on potential gambling harms by providing lessons to them.
The PSHE lessons will be carried out by staff from Burnley FC in the community in schools across the Lancashire region, with the staff members undergoing YGAM’s fully-assured training, and will aim to use the knowledge and resources provided by the charity.
YGAM national education manager Sam Starsmore, said: “Training the team at Burnley has been an absolute pleasure and their passion for the local community has shown us just how committed they are to dealing with the complex issues of gaming and gambling related harms in children. I am very much looking forward to training the rest of the staff at the club and working together in the months ahead to ensure that we inform, educate and safeguard young people in Lancashire and beyond.“
In September, YGAM announced a partnership with fellow Premier League club Leeds United, also aimed to educate young people in the local region on the risks related to gambling.
