The Greek government has applied some hard reforms on the online gaming and advertising. According to these new norms, the maximum stake limit of random number generator (RNG) games is limited to €2, with a €5,000 maximum prize per gaming session, as well as a 3-second spin limit. Likewise, as per secondary legislation published as part of its new rules of the country's gambling laws, RNG games may not be promoted outside of an operator’s website.
Depending on the new rules, that people can read them inside Greece’s official Gazetteonline, RNG games like online slots will need to have a maximum bet limit of €2, a 3-second minimum spin and may not be advertised anywhere else but on a licensee’s operator’s website. Nevertheless, gambling products other than slots can be advertised on social media but the operators have to make sure the commercials are viewed only by persons older than 21.
The initial gambling reform bills in Greece were supposed to ban online slots completely, but this precaution was removed in the form of the bill passed by Greece’s Parliament in 2019 and later submitted to the European Commission in January this year, after Greek operators threatened to challenge the laws and fight RNG exclusion.
