Concerned about the surge in online gambling interest, GamCare and YGAM, problem gambling organizations, have joined forces to raise awareness of the UK gambling community and reduce the harmful effects of gambling in general. Although the government has already claimed responsibility for the gambling boom, and is preparing to introduce a new law to replace last year's, it is now charities that can help gamblers get rid of their addictions. In partnership with Community Trust, GamCare and YGAM have prepared a social media campaign with many articles, podcasts and interviews.
It is noteworthy that the organizations plan to fight gambling through sports. John Taylor, the lead campaign ambassador, was one of the most prominent forwards for Cambridge United, with 153 goals scored over 500 matches. Taylor talked about how GamCare is always ready to help, giving good advice and support to everyone who needs help. An independent organization, GamCare provides assistance to all gamblers in the United Kingdom. John noted that being aware of the problem is the most difficult phase of recovery that everyone needs to go through.
Connected to this big campaign, YGAM will leverage its own philanthropic expertise to help the most vulnerable. YGAM plans to hold a series of educational sessions, during which they will talk about the dangers of the gambling. As known, earlier YGAM and GamCare expanded their powers, becoming to provide round-the-clock assistance and support to young gamblers. According to representatives of organizations, during a pandemic, these problems are most acute.
